Looks like Colin's more than happy to see Karloff!

Circa 1935

This one isn't mine, but is a detail from a professional "faux" lobby card:

Here is a frame grab from JOURNEY'S END (1930), reimagined (and reimaged) to suggest what it might look like if filmed in two-strip Technicolor of that time:

That's the wrong skin color on Frankenstein. The original was a bluish-gray color, NOT GREEN!

I didn't add any green, in fact I didn't add any color to Karloff's skin tone except for a light ambient brown added to the entire photo. I prefer to keep the Monster a mortuary gray but if you're going get huffy about it, take a look at these posters...and no, I haven't fiddled with the colors:

Even the lobby cards and posters for ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET THE KILLER, BORIS KARLOFF and ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET DOCTOR JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE color Boris Karloff green.

Not to mention ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN:

Apparently, Universal was not consistent:
