Tsuru Aoki, Lotus Flower of the Cinema

Unread post by missdupont » Mon Jun 19, 2017 9:31 am

Brought to this country at 8 by her uncle Otto Kawakimi and her aunt Madame Yaddasakko Kawakimi, Tsuru Aoki grew up in Pasadena before entering films. She gained her start with comedian Fred Mace before gaining stardom with Thomas Ince. Her marriage to Sessue Hayakawa was often difficult but she persevered because she loved him. Sadly she is almost forgotten today, when most of her reviews praise her talents and acting, comparing her to Mary Pickford.
