EARLIEST 'IN' JOKE IN FILM

Watching the highly amusing LT PIMPLE AND THE STOLEN SUBMARINE (1914), there is a scene where Pimple receives a message delivered by a fish: 'Shan't be long - gone to fetch a tin-opener Capt. Cricks?' The company Pimple (aka Fred Evans) worked for from 1910 was Cricks and Martin, which would seem to be too much of a coincidence, so would this be a 'first' of its type?
