Open, general discussion of silent films, personalities and history.
Jeanne Moreau made a short documentary on Lillian Gish in the 80's; around this time Anthony Slide produced short documentaries or filmed interviews on Blanche Sweet and Viola Dana - has anybody seen these anywhere?
There is an interview online somewhere of Anthony Slide with Blanche Sweet in her New York Apartment during the last couple of years of her life. Apparently he took blanche to some retrospectives of her silent film years at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. I do remember him saying that Blanche had run out of money and was perhaps living in a rent controlled apartment. Unlike her early contemporaries Mary Pickford and Lillian Gish she never was as big as them and never made the millions they did. Don't think she had much contact with people of her silent film years , she was more of a loner.
