Keye Luke as Illustrator

Keye Luke displayed great talent as an artist and illustrator before becoming an actor. He drew sheet music for a Seattle music company just out of high school and worked for film studios designing movie related ads before becoming an actor.

Luke was also responsible for the stunning cover for the original program book for KING KONG. Supposedly the originals were printed on thin sheets of copper.

I've known about him as an illustrator ever since I read a biography of Anna May Wong years ago, but I've never seen any of his work. Would love to see a retrospective of his work. As respected as he was, he must certainly deserve it!

By the way, thanks Mary! You've often put up extremely interesting articles here which have provocatively informed me of things that led me to do further study.

Is there any truth to the claim that he was responsible for the painted decorations inside Grauman's Chinese Theatre? It's endlessly repeated, but I don't think I've ever seen it in a primary source.

Thanks R. Michael, that means a lot! I'm always trying to learn something new, and try to share that info. with others.
