The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934) Best Transfer to dvd?

Unread post by Phillyrich » Sun Sep 24, 2017 9:36 am

Does anyone have the 1934 version (Leslie Howard) of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" on dvd?

There are so many bad public domain prints on cheap dvds, it's always really disappointing to see this great
film given such shabby treatment. I don't know why.

Can anyone recommend a good standard dvd transfer?

There was a fine one from Nostalgia Family Video put out in 2004. I think the company's gone now because of piracy. There is a remastered version in England in PAL, but Amazon UK has only 1 copy left (according to them) at over $75!! Outside of that - no - unless others here know of a copy not bootlegged somewhere.

And, yes, it's a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There an HD version of this film on YT. It looks great and not difficult to transfer to disc:

Hi there.

The german DVD of Scarlet Pimpernel (1934) - with a questionable title - has a great transfer of the film on it and offers german and english language. Also it is still in print and you can buy it for an affordable price.

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.de/Das-scharlachrote ... ote+siegel" target="_blank" target="_blank

Have fun with the great Leslie Howard!
