THE INFORMER (1929) [sound version]

Unread post by earlytalkiebuffRob » Mon Jun 11, 2018 2:13 pm

Watching this last night it seemed clear that the voices used for Gypo / Lars Hanson and Kate / Lya De Putti were not their own, Miss De Putti's sounding very unsuitable. Any ideas who doubled for them?

Joan Barry usually gets the credit again here, too, as she did in "Blackmail". I can't find any substantiation, however. Can't find anything at all on who did Hanson.

Nor could I. I read the booklet from the BFI blu-ray, the silent version of which I watched two nights ago. It mentioned that they were dubbed, but gave no particulars.
