I've started getting email notifications that there is activity in various threads. How do I stop this?

Go into "Overview" in your User Control Panel and click on "Manage subscriptions." You'll see a list of all the threads you're subscribed to. Mark each one you don't want to subscribe to by checking the box at the far right, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Unwatch marked" button. That should take care of it.

Go to your User Control Panel->Board Preferences->Edit Posting Defaults and set "Notify me upon replies by default" to "no". This will stop notifications on future topics.

Then go to User Control Panel->Overview->Manage Subscriptions to turn off subscriptions to topics that are already active.
