The Speed Demon-1925

Unread post by Hamilton's Grandson » Mon May 21, 2018 11:36 pm

I recently acquired a 16 mm 1.5 reel portion of this 5 reel film which fortunately is the first portion of the film.

LOC catalog has this film listed as being complete in the Brussels archive.

Wondering if anyone knows if any portion of this film exists in US?

The cast included; Kenneth McDonald (MacDonald), Peggy Montgomery, B.Wayne Lamont, Art Manning, Clark Comstock, Jack Pierce, and Barney Oldfield. Melodrama released 25 June 1925 under a NY state license directed by Robert Bradbury.

Video Yesteryear used to offer it on VHS; I vamped them up a graphic for their catalog for it.

I assume theirs was complete?

If they are now called vhscollector.com they may be the same company, but their website doesn't have silent films available.

Not sure what you meant by "vamped them up a graphic for their catalog for it" ?

Thanks,
Dana

Dana -

I don't believe VideoYesteryear exists anymore; but Dave Goldin may have given away the physical assets, as he did with much of his extensive radio holdings.

I (mainly, using elements from other old admats) cobbled up some pieces of art for their catalog/box inserts.

Thanks Craig!

I figured that not many companies sell or distribute VHS so it had to be a while ago. The vhscollector.com has nothing on their site prior to 1969 so must be focused on more recent releases than silents.

Still will see if an archive has use for the first reel and a half.
