Buster Keaton's DAYDREAMS (1922) in 16mm

Unread post by silentfilm » Fri Jul 25, 2008 3:16 pm

Buster Keaton's Daydreams (1922) comedy short with Renée Adorée.

Includes a metal can. 3 splices. This film only exists in an incomplete version, but this print has the beginning and ending of the film. This print has the pet vet sequence, the street sweeper sequence, and the actor/roman centurian sequence. The letter inserts were replaced by Raymond Rohauer. The contrast is not very good. The preprint was probably contrasty to begin with, plus this is probably a dupe. There is no vinegar smell.

Is this true? Is there an actual complete print of Daydreamd in existence? If so, wouldn't it be nice to share it with other people instead of keeping it for oneself? It would have been lovely to see it included in the last Blu-Ray edition of the Keaton shorts...

As described this print has the pet vet sequence, the street sweeper sequence, and the actor/roman centurian sequence. These scenes are all available on Kino & Lobster's restorations. The Lobster version has the long missing police sequence as well, so everything is well covered. As far as we know the main sequences still missing are the doctor sequence and the stock market sequence.
