"Tech Talk" subforum category

Post by Christopher Jacobs » Mon Apr 12, 2010 12:45 pm

With the increasing number of posts and threads discussing various issues involving HDTV, DVD, BluRay, aspect ratios, film formats, color and sound processes, lenses, projectors, TV sets, etc., it's also getting increasingly harder to remember which subforum one topic or another was originally posted in.

I think it would be useful to add a "Tech Talk" category under the "Reference" subforum, where several of the previous threads could be moved and where new questions and discussion can take place that don't directly involve the silent, talkie, collecting/preservation categories, or that may actually involve all of them at once. This would be simpler for Nitratevillians than having to go to separate webforums devoted only to home theatres, film/video technology, etc., as it would not be the main focus of this forum but an occasional and very useful supplement.

How about...

TECH TALK
Discussion of film and video formats, standards, and technology for production or exhibition (commercial or home)

Just my two cents' worth...

Seems worth discussing, so feel free to weigh in for the next few days on this idea.

Yes, and at least one chat room.

I second that.

I'm game for a tech talk forum, although I suppose the preservation and restoration forum falls under that, too.

Can I have a pony?

Seriously, sounds like a reasonable idea.
